A quick photo from an eve on Saranac Lake, NY-Just an idea of what my summer was like.
And a view from the porch-also my current location:
I can look at the calender and see how it says September 2, 2010, but I still find it so hard to believe that time has flown by this fast. It feels as though it was just yesterday that I drove down Main Street Lake Placid for my interview at The Spa.
Where to even begin on what has happened between graduation and now.
May 1, 2010. Graduation day
"Yoga instructor and traveling around the world for an undetermined amount of time" were my exact words under the Future Plans section of the accomplishment cards for the Engineering Graduation. Who would have thought I would actually follow through with that.
It has been 4 months since then, and it has become a reality. After my Baptiste yoga teacher training, I swore to myself that I was going to commit to following through with my plans. Here I am now, 16 days away from my trip and still questioning myself on what the helllll I am doing.
A shout out to Basel at airtreks.com for helping me plan my entire trip. If anybody decides to ever embark on a world journey similar to mine, I suggest calling him! He worked with me for hours deciding on locations and flights and duration of time for everything, and the final itinerary has come to this:
Seoul, South Korea September 18-October 1
Sydney, Australia October 1-October 7
Auckland, New Zealand October 7-October 16
Sydney, Australia October 16-October 20
Bangkok, Thailand October 20-October 26
Tel Aviv, Israel October 26-November 3
Cairo, Egypt November 3-November 6
Nairobi, Kenya November 6-December 8
Paris, France undetermined amount of time
Geneva, Switzerland undetermined amount of time
London, England undetermined amount of time-departing December 23
At each stop I will doing touristy/outdoorsy stuff and posting pictures as well as descriptions of where I am. I will also be fundraising for the Africa Yoga Project along the way. I plan on doing a Yoga Workshop in Seoul as well as a few different events in Sydney with Baptiste studios.
My time in Africa is entirely devoted to The Africa Yoga Project. Not only will I be assisting and teaching yoga classes, I will also be running a workshop hosting topics such as how to write a professional resume, email, cover letter, etc. I will be helping these people become more comfortable with the English language and therefore they will be more inclined to receive better jobs which would in turn break the cycle of their poverty stricken living. I am fund-raising for materials for this workshop as well as for yoga mats and rented space. My fund-raising website can be found at:

If you are able to help out and contribute that would be great!
Outside of all of these travel plans and such, I do have to reflect on my summer a bit. It has been definitely one of the top 3 summers of my entire life (all of 22 years). I could write for hours about all of the crazy things I did on a daily basis but that wouldn't begin to do it justice. From biking, swimming, wake-boarding, boating, cliff jumping, yoga-ing, kayaking, partying, dancing, being free...the list could go on. The people I have met along the way have really made it all that much better. I honestly could have not asked for a better situation for the summer immediately following college.
For the past few months I have been trying to get myself to start this blog, and now that I'm finally getting around to it, its almost feels as though my summer was a made up dream. I wish I had committed to this earlier to document the past 4 months, but now that I have finally put in the time to get this set-up I will commit to consistently posting and keeping everyone updated with my exact whereabouts and such.
I posted on facebook that I will promise one postcard to anyone who wants one, all you have to do is message me your address and I'll add you to my list. I want each and everyone to hold me to this promise because I am trying this new thing called staying in touch with people :)
Be on the look out for a new post, hopefully it will be sooner than later!
